Insurance
Due to unreliable payments and delinquency on the part of all the major insurance carriers Dar A Luz has discontinued accepting any insurance plans. We recommend that clients work directly with midivesadvantage.com to see if any chance of a partial reimbursement is possible. You may also consider working directly with your insurance company to obtain reimbursement of your expenses. Some information to be aware of: does my insurance company allow out of network care, what is the out of network deductible, what is the out of network reimbursement rate, since no CMS 1500 form will be filed where do I direct my paid invoice for reimbursement. Knowing the answer to these questions will help you set your expectation and forgo many common hurdles that come up.
When speaking with your insurance company remember global maternity services are billed at the usual and customary rate of $15,000 or more when including the facility fee. You are requesting reimbursement for 1/3 of that amount and thus have saved your insurance provider thousands of dollars. You should be open and honest about having a home birth. While some insurances companies are not willing to pay for homebirth, most insurance companies will honor the plan and pay for your prenatal and postpartum care with a certified nurse midwife.
Health shares
Good news! Most health shares are home birth friendly and are happy to cover your home birth in full due to the cheaper cost. If you have a health share call and see what is required to have your home birth covered.
Payment plans and HSA
Dar A Luz WHS offers an array of payment plans to its mothers. After you have paid your non-refundable deposit you may break your bill up into equal monthly, weekly, or biweekly payments. However, your bill will need to be paid in full by 38 weeks of pregnancy.
If maternity care is a part of your insurance, your HSA card can be used to process payments to Dar A Luz.
